Biography:

This water management system is known as Water Treatment Indonesia. There are several stages of water management that must be carried out so that the water can be said to be suitable for use. However, not all of these stages are implemented by each water manager, depending on the quality of the water source.

For example, if the water source comes from the ground (ground water), the water management system will be simpler than if the water source comes from surface water sources, such as river, lake or sea water. Because water that comes from the ground has been through natural filtration by the soil structure itself and is not in direct contact with free air which contains a lot of water polluting substances.

Unlike the case with surface water sources which are easily polluted. However, water that comes from the ground will also be polluted if the storage and distribution system is not good.

In general, the water treatment process is divided into 3 units, namely:

1. Initial Shelter Unit (Intake)
This unit is known as the Air Sadap unit (Intake). This unit functions as a reservoir for water from its water source. In addition, this unit is equipped with a Bar Screen which functions as an initial filter of objects that are also submerged in water such as leaf litter, wood and other objects.

2. Treatment Unit (Water Treatment)
In this unit, water from the initial storage unit is processed through several stages:

a. Coagulation Stage (Coagulation)

At this stage, the water coming from the initial reservoir is processed by adding alum (alum) chemical or similar substances such as salt iron or by using a rapid mixing system. Dirty or cloudy water is generally because it contains various colloidal particles that are not affected by the force of gravity so that they cannot settle by themselves. The purpose of this step is to destroy the colloidal particles (which cause cloudy water) so that small particles are formed but are still difficult to settle on their own.

b. Flocculation Stage (Flocculation)

Flocculation process is the process of removing water turbidity by clumping particles to make larger particles (floc particles). At this stage, the small particles contained in the water are agglomerated into larger particles (flocs) so that they can settle by themselves (due to gravity) in the next process. In the flocculation process, this is done by slow mixing.

c. Stage of Deposition (Sedimentation)

At this stage the floc particles naturally settle to the bottom of the reservoir because their density is greater than the element of water. Then the water is flowed into the filtering stage in the Filtration Unit.

d. Stage of Filtering (Filtration)

At this stage the water is filtered through a filter media which is composed of
